On September 6 Mr Hrayr Karapetyan, Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia received Mr Lubmoir Zaoralek, Vice Chairperson of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic being in Armenia with regional visit. Mr Ashot Apoyan, head of Armenia-Czech Republic parliamentary friendship group attended the meeting.
Mr Zaoralek noted that he visited the region to get familiarized with the situation, as in the parliament of the Czech Republic and in European structures would be expected debates over the situation in Georgia. In his words Europe is interested in preserving EU-Russia good relations.
Welcoming the guests Mr Karapetyan highlighted the development of the Armenian-Czech relations, cooperation of the parliaments and parliamentary groups of two countries, emphasizing the necessity of activation of bilateral relations. Mr Karapetyan noted that integration into Europe was one of the priorities of the foreign policy of our country, in this aspect considering useful the experience of the Czech Republic. Touching upon the created situation in the region Mr Karapetyan noted that Armenia had neutral position in Russia-Georgia relations and was advocate of preserving peace and good friendly relations with neighbours.
At the meeting the sides touched upon the settlement of the Karabakh issue, Armenian-Turkish relations and regional issues. Both sides highlighted the visit of the Turkish President Mr Abdullah Gul to Armenia in the aspect of the settlement of the Armenian-Turkish relations. The sides noted that the peaceful settlement of the conflict had no alternative.
